This year is the first time I have taken the plunge and participated in a CSA. Why did I wait so long, you ask?! I just did not feel creative enough to deal with that much variety. But now....I don't know what I would do without it.
For those who don't know, a CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture," and it's a way to support your farmer up front, and reap the benefits throughout the year. For me, that meant dreaming of fresh local cucumbers, tomatoes, kohlrabi, dill, and kale in the early months of February, and finally started reaping the benefits in May. But luckily I will be reaping those benefits through November!
So why should you join a CSA? You should join if:
- You like to eat fresh food.
- You can Google on the internet to look up new recipes.
- You're not afraid to try new things.
- You don't like fighting the masses at the grocery store.
- You don't mind a little extra dirt.
I've made more interesting meals since joining my CSA than I had ever before. Oh, and one my thing about why I loooove my CSA? I pick up at a bar. IPA and a carrot, please.
Keep exploring (and fueling!) my friends...
XOXO Kristy
